I recently went to the BEST WEDDING EVER...MY WEDDING!!!!

From months of wedding planning all the way until the end of the evening on our wedding day, my shiny new husband and I couldn't have been happier with the Corinthian Event Center.

First of all, they offer a pretty reasonably priced wedding package that includes the ceremony (w/ the room, chairs, aisle, candles, etc.), a cocktail and hors devours hour, and a reception (w/ the room, chairs, tables, linens, table settings, in house catering, day of coordinator, etc.) Since I didn't want to spend all of my free time coordinating different vendors, their wedding package was perfect for me.

Also, since we had our wedding on a Sunday, we had the entire place to ourselves (well, except the basement, which is a gym), and we got a better deal on the price.

Jessica was our coordinator and she was very good about answering all of my questions, replying to my long emails, and meeting with me during the whole wedding planning process.  She was also wonderful on our wedding day and made sure that everything went smoothly.  For the most part, I didn't really have to worry.  I was able to relax and have fun!

The only drawbacks to this place are that some people may have a hard time finding it, unless you tell them it is the building with the huge columns, there is no adjacent parking lot, but there is nearby parking, the main ballroom has no windows so there is no natural light, and there is a pool in the basement, so there is a slight chlorine smell when you first walk in the front door.

HOWEVER, the Corinthian Event Center is so beautiful and elegant that we had many compliments on the fancy wedding venue.  An indoor wedding venue is also better if you are worried about the weather. Even though rain is usually not a big concern, the bright hot sun can do scary things to makeup and wash you out in photos.  Also, the food and service were excellent.

I'd get married here again any day.  :-)

My fiance, family and I have toured this facility numerous times.  It is a beautiful historic San Jose building designed by architect Carl Werner in 1924. Since it is a historic building no major construction/remodeling is allowed. However, I recently heard they were purchased by a new company and they will be doing basic changes (carpet, paint, furniture etc.). The building has an Egyptian/Roman-Greek presence. It reminds me of European architecture from my vacation a few years back. Good times :0)

There are plenty of hotels nearby for our guest.  If you contact the hotels in advance they are happy to negotiate group rates (Rosa or Jessica can provide you with a preferred vendors/hotel list).  I have found three (4-star) hotels for under ($109/night).

Rosa and Jessica are extremely helpful and responsive every time I have contacted them.   I am planning my wedding reception at the Corinthian Grand Ballroom later this year. They are reasonably flexible with outside catering options.  My fiance is Vietnamese and it is important that we have Vietnamese dishes.  When speaking with the in-house Chef he stated he didn't feel comfortable preparing theses dishes. I am so happy he was honest and didn't try to experiment or commit to something he couldn't do.  We are coordinating with outside caters to work seamlessly with the Corinthian staff.

I think the Corinthian is one of the best kept secrets in the Bay Area - a hidden gem right downtown.  It's a gorgeous high-ceiling ballroom that  looks great in photos, the food is excellent, the staff is FABULOUS, and I don't think it's too pricey compared to comparable venues.

It might not seem important, but a good floor plan makes a big difference in how the event looks and feels, and I like the way you can lay out the tables with lots of creative options for sweetheart seating or a huge head table. From my perspective as a DJ, I just LOVE that huge ballroom.  It's a great space for a big guest list. Sound can be a little muddy in that cavernous space, but I've learned how to control it so everyone can talk while enjoying background music and hear the speeches etc.  It can look a little bare when it's stripped, but when the room is full of tables and candles and flowers it is the kind of beautiful that you could never achieve in a modern hotel ballroom.

The only negative thing I can say about the facility is the bar area is a bit small for really big weddings, and on a hot July day it can get stuffy in there, but that's only cocktail hour, and once guests are invited to the dining room, all is forgotten. Just keep that in mind when you are thinking about a huge seafood buffet in the middle of the bar. You need room for people too.

One of the big benefits here is the staff, a lot of whom have been there for a long time.  Shannon and Jessica are very focused on doing whatever it takes to keep things rolling and keep the guests comfortable. It comes down to the little things like waiting out front for the couple to arrive and having a drink ready for them as they emerge.
I like working with them because they are always open to my suggestions and very willing to be flexible and accommodating, and since I spend a lot of time planning and customizing the event for my couples, there is always something.

Keep in mind, the place is big. I would imagine any party smaller than 150 or so would seem a little lost in all that space, but for larger guest-lists, the Corinthian should be on your must-see list.

5 stars for a great combination of beauty, service and overall value!

I held my daughter's Bat Mitzvah here this past weekend and it was outstanding!  From the very beginning, working with Rosa and Jessica was a pleasure.  They both were responsive to my inquiries, had wonderful suggestions to enhance the evening, and followed through on commitments with a wonderful attention to detail. The food was delicious, hot and beautifully presented.  The serving staff was prompt, courteous and efficient. The ballroom was gorgeous and the balcony provided a beautiful spot to introduce her.

I have absolutely no negative comments and would hold another event at this venue anytime.
